AnotationObesity is a serious metabolic disease that affects not only the lives of patients, but also the socioeconomic situation in society. Therefore, much attention is currently being paid to the elucidation of the pathophysiological mechanisms of obesity, the possibility of their influence, the treatment of obesity itself and its complications. A special type of obesity is sarcopenic obesity, where muscle tissue is infiltrated by fat, which replaces its volume and weakens muscle function. The key mechanism is thought to be the inflammatory activity of hypertrophic adipose tissue. Densitometry is the imaging method used to determine the amount of each component of the human body, while computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging is used to describe morphological changes. Sarcopenic obesity increases the risk of health complications, especially of the cardiovascular system, worsens insulin resistance, and has been shown to increase the incidence of postoperative cognitive impairment and impaired wound healing. Last but not least, sarcopenia reduces physical performance. Our study published in 2020 shows that patients after bariatric surgery are largely at risk of developing sarcopenia. Bariatric surgery leads to significant changes in body composition with fat loss being followed by unintended muscle loss. This is due, among other things, to the lack of physical activity typical of these patients. Paradoxically, there are currently no detailed guidelines for physical activity and prevention sarcopenia in bariatric patients In this
