AnotationThe project is focused on the current issue of clinical teaching environment and development of competencies of student nurses. Clinical teaching is an essential part of the educational process of students of nursing. Interdisciplinary cooperation between teaching institutions and clinical workplaces where these students are trained is vital. The increased interest in this issue is due to many factors, including the lack of staff nurses, not only in the Czech Republic, but also on a global level, nurses being discontent, nurses leaving their profession early, fluctuation, etc. The experience of nurse students during the clinical education can affect the students´ satisfaction with their future nursing profession. Negative students´ experience from the clinical teaching workplaces can contribute to the above problems. Building and development of competencies should be an integral part of the clinical practice of nurse students. Numerous researches have shown that students´ competencies are the key areas for the quality of the nursing care and patients´ safety. It is essential for the teaching institutions preparing the future nurses for their profession, as well as for the management of the healthcare institutions, to assess the competencies of nurse students. To assess the competencies of nurse students, various validity and reliability instruments have been developed. The project is to analyse relationships between the clinical teaching environment and the competencies of nurse students with the use of selected tools.
