AnotationThe patellofemoral pain syndrome affects a big part of population and in many cases becomes chronical disease which prevents the patient from leading active life. Although the patellofemoral pain syndrome is no new term in medicine, its real etiology is still unknown. Majority of theories shows the fact that many factors play role in the etiology but these theories agree on the importance of the knee joint biomechanics. Aim of this project is to evaluate biomechanical parameters of the knee joint during step down task in participants with patellofemoral pain syndrome in comparison with control group. Step down task is standartised method simulating individual´s natural movement. During the task EMG activity of musculus vastus medialis and musculus vastus lateralis will be recorded using the surface electromyography system (MyoMotion, Noraxon, USA). Kinematics of the knee joint movement will be evaluated with help of two cameras, also Noraxon system. The experimental group will consist of 20 participants with diagnosed patellofemoral pain syndrome, in the control group there will be 20 healthy individuals. Interpretation of acquired results can serve as a base for more effective diagnostics of the patellofemoral pain syndrome and creation of suitable physiotherapeutical intervention. Acquired data can be used as a base for following research of other clinical diagnoses for the lower extremity.
