AnotationFalls of people are still a global public health problem with significant socio-economic consequences. Loss or disruption of balancing abilities is one of the symptoms of vascular stroke, and this functional deficiency often persists after treatment. Poor or missing balancing skills significantly interfere with the overall mobility of these patients and it may also lead to falls. Patient falls are undesirable in any healthcare facility, and therefore every facility tries to actively prevent this by means of detection of risky patients (part of the nursing documentation). For stroke patients, however, we consider this assessment to be merely informative because it does not focus on all aspects of postural control and balancing abilities of an individual with a neurological disability. In addition, a fear of falling over has often overlooked psychological consequences. Because the risk of falls is difficult to assess, the whole study is focused on predicting the risk of fall in stroke patients, based on a combination of assessment. The aim of this work is to examine how the results obtained by measurements correlate with one another - parameters of selected posturographic examination tests, selected clinical tests of balancing abilities, subjective assessment of stability and assessment of the degree of self-sufficiency. Furthermore, the aim of this study is to find out whether it is possible to identify the degree of fall risk, based on a combination of selected tests and examinations, or to identify a key component of the malfunctioning of the balancing system (somato-sensory, visual, vestibular) or postural control subsystem (postural adjustment, sensory orientation, stability limits, biomechanical balance component).
