AnotationThe main aim of this project is to determine the knowledge and the experiences of general nurses in connection with the management of postoperative pain in the early postoperative period. The thesis will focus on comparing the knowledge and experiences of treating this pain, amongst general nurses in both the Czech Republic and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Among these countries, there are major differences in postoperative pain management due to the different patient?s cultures and their perception and tolerance of pain. The thesis will also to help understand the different experiences of general nurses using Patient Controlled Analgesia (PCA). The results of this survey will serve as an international compasion. In the Czech Republic, the results will be used to standardise and validate research tools. The theoretical part of the dissertation thesis focus on postoperative pain, types of pain, pain assessment scales and therapeutic procedures of postoperative pain, discussing both pharmacological and non-pharmacological procedures. The empirical part of the disseration thesis will be processed by using a quantitative survey method. The prospective study will be compeleted by using questionnaire. Samples will be taken by using selected criteria. The criteria includes: a general nurses, aged over 20 years, with minimal experience 2,5 years and working in postoperative surgical departments.
