AnotationRationing of nursing care leads to withholding or not providing necessary nursing activities which increases the risk of adverse events in patients. The observational epidemiological study aims at determining the relationship between implicit rationing of nursing care (700 nurses) and nosocomial infections and other adverse events potentially occurring in 8000 hospital inpatients. At the same time, a causal relationship will be sought between rationing of nursing care and selected organizational factors (work environment, nurses? workload). An optimal model of the maximum possible quantity and quality of rationed nursing care will be proposed, which will not negatively influence the outcomes of hospital inpatients, that is an acceptable level of nursing care not potentiating nosocomial infections and other adverse events in patients (pressure ulcers and falls).
