Job description

  • Research in molecular and translational pathology focused on investigating the biological and molecular mechanisms of cancer within the LERCO project and Research Programme 7 Applied Research in Oncology.
  • Participation in research on lung cancer and other solid tumours using clinicopathological, immunohistochemical and molecular data.
  • Planning, conducting and evaluating experimental studies focused on the molecular characterisation of tumours, biomarker identification and tumour heterogeneity.
  • Performing and evaluating histopathological and immunohistochemical analyses of biological and tumour samples.
  • Integration of histopathological, clinical and molecular data and participation in the interpretation of genomic, transcriptomic and other molecular analyses.
  • Collaboration with other research teams within Research Programme 7 and national and international partners in the planning, implementation and evaluation of translational oncology studies.
  • Analysis and interpretation of experimental data, preparation of scientific publications and presentation of research results at national and international conferences.
  • Participation in the preparation of research projects and grant proposals and in the scientific supervision and mentoring of students and junior members of the research team.

Qualification requirements – required

  • Completed doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in medicine, pathology, oncology, molecular biology or a related biomedical field.
  • Completed university degree in medicine, natural sciences or a related biomedical field.
  • Research experience in oncology, cancer biology, pathology or molecular medicine.
  • Experience in the analysis and interpretation of histopathological, immunohistochemical or molecular data.
  • Ability to independently plan, conduct and evaluate research activities and interpret the resulting data.
  • Experience in presenting scientific results and a record of scientific publications.
  • Proficiency in English sufficient for professional communication, working with scientific literature and preparing scientific publications.
  • Ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams, independence, accuracy and willingness to develop new experimental and analytical approaches.

Qualification requirements – preferred

  • Education or professional experience in pathology.
  • Research experience in lung cancer or other solid tumours.
  • Experience in neuroendocrine tumour research.
  • Practical experience with immunohistochemical methods and the evaluation of biomarkers in tumour tissue.
  • Experience in the integration of clinicopathological and molecular data.
  • Experience with translational or multicentre oncology research and international scientific collaboration.
  • Experience with grant proposal preparation, participation in research projects or supervision and mentoring of students.

  • R2 – Recognised Researcher

The expected form of employment

  • 100 % FTE

The duration of employment

  • Fixed-term employment from 1 October 2026 to 31 December 2027, for the duration of the LERCO project

The expected start date

  • September 2026 or by agreement

  • The salary is determined according to the University′s internal salary regulations and also reflects the applicant′s professional experience.

The first round will consist of an evaluation of the submitted documents. Only selected applicants will be invited to the next round – a personal interview. The selection process may consist of multiple rounds.
