AnotationStroke is one of the leading causes of mortality and disability in industrialized countries. Survivors often suffer from motor impairments causing limits in their activities of daily living (ADLs).The ischaemic lesion of the most commonly affected vessel ? the middle cerebral artery has typical clinical manifestation?hemiparesis, usually more pronounced in the upper limb. Besides the recovery of motor skills, muscle strength and sensitivity of the affected limb, the main goal remains the recuperation of the functional skills. The established physiotherapeutic approaches are highly physically demanding, therefore the current trend is their supplementation with effective robotic rehabiliation devices. According to the actual evidence based publications, rehabilitation robots are complementary to conventional therapy. Their advantage is the presence of biofeedback, the use of virtual reality, motivating and task-oriented exercises similar to the ADLs. Neuroplasticity is one the fundamental principles of the modern neurorehabilitation. Plasticity of the central nervous system means the adaptability to the internal or external changes. FMRI plays the key role in imaging of the functional processes in central nervous system. The usage of this method is very expensive and applicable only under laboratory condiotions. Emotiv Epoc+ EEG neuroheadsets present an attractive alternative to FMRI. Those devices are called BCI (brain ?computer interface). Each device consists of light portable headset for scanning the cortical neuronal activity. The signal is wirelessly transmitted and saved in the memory. The goal of this pilot project is the statistic evaluation of changes in cortical activity in healthy volunteers performing active movements primarily without the exoskeleton and followingly doing exercises and assessments on the Armeo Spring device. Cortical activity is recorded through Emotiv Epoc+ EEG headset. Acquired data are analyzed in licenced software Matlab.
