Within the degree programme Specialization in Health Service, the Department of Rehabilitation offers two Bachelor programmes (Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy) and one Master’s programme (Physiotherapy) all structured as full-time studies.
From the first year of study, practical teaching and placements are provided in collaboration with the University Hospital in Ostrava – especially the Clinic for Rehabilitation and Physical Medicine, but also with other clinics which allow the Department’s staff to use equipment and facilities that are necessary for practical teaching. The Department of Rehabilitation also cooperates with two other hospitals in Ostrava (the City Hospital and the Vítkovice Hospital), the Rehabilitation Centre in Hrabyně, and several other facilities in Ostrava and the region.
Research activities are focused on the observation of patients after replantations, polytraumas, cerebrovascular accidents, spinal lesions and amputations. Staff members take part in developing methodological guidelines for physiotherapy.
Students can participate in LLP/ERASMUS exchange programmes at partner universities: Tallin Health Care College (Estonia), Savonia University of Applied Sciences (Finland), University of the Balearic Islands (Spain), University of Valencia (Spain) and University of Wolverhampton (UK).
The department organizes events targeted at the professional public, where leading experts in specific fields are invited as guest speakers.
